HIKE IN PRICES OF ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES

Living has become quite a costly affair these days . The low Income group & the salaried classes are the worst sufferers. In recent years the prices of essential commodities have gone up sharply. The prices of cooking gas, pulses, vegetables etc near about everything have registered a sharp rise . Liberalisation of economy has not done any wonders. Dreams of a new & prosperous India have been totally belied. The prices of rice, tea, salt, gas & pulses have shown an abnormal rise. They are becoming beyond the reach of workers & peasants.

India is a poor country. About half of its population lives below the poverty line. The purchasing power of these people is very small. Inflation lowers the value of their pay packets. The hike in the prices of cooking gas , has affected millions of housewives. A parallel black money market, hoarding & profiteering are the main reasons of rise in prices. Strong exemplary punishments & prompt remedial steps by the government can ease the situation considerably.....!!!!
